They have all it takes for them to continue the way they played last season. They have very good players at that team, and I am happy for a man like Xabi Alonso, who have taking it upon himself to make sure he pushes Leverkusen to a greater heights. If they can maintain the kind of consistency they maintained last season, then I'm quite sure they can go on to lift the trophy twice, and not only that, they will looking forward to adding an European trophy to the list next season.Just can't wait to see them play in the Champions league next season.
The Champions League is a league that is very different from the European League when viewed in terms of caste and level of competition so the same thing will probably never happen to Leverkusen even though there are many people who believe in Leverkusen's consistency for next season. And I'm just sure that Leverkusen will only be able to take another trophy in the Bundesliga and also in other competitions in Germany, but for the Champions League trophy I still think Leverkusen will probably have difficulty getting it straight away next season.
While still respecting Leverkusen and especially Xabi Alonso, their historic journey last season most likely cannot be repeated in the Champions League, there is a chance they can do it in the Bundesliga due to the change in managers of Bayern Munich and Dortmound. There are a number of favorite teams in the Champions League, Real Madrid and Manchester City are currently at the top of the list, it seems that Leverkusen cannot do much in front of them. Surprises are possible, but logically Leverkusen chances in the Champions League are very low, I think their best chance is in the Bundesliga. Meanwhile, it is possible that next season will be Xabi Alonso last season with Leverkusen, their successful journey last season has entertained everyone and become an inspiration for other mediocre clubs.
Bayer Leverkusen last season had their best season in the history of the club but another thing that helped them to remain at the top of their game was because of the fact that they were playing in the UEFA Europa League which is a lower league that comprises lesser top performing teams than the UEFA Champions League competition. Next season, they'll be playing in the UEFA Champions League competition and maintaining their records of last season I think will be almost impossible for them because in the UEFA Champions League competition, they'll face the strongest clubs in Europe like Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germaine, Manchester City, Inter Milan Atletico Madrid and so many others clubs that will pose much better threat than the teams they played against last season.
In their league, many people believes that the appointment of Vincent Kompany by Bayern Munich have increased Leverkusen's chances of retaining their league title come next season since the Belgian haven't won any trophy in his managerial career. Whatever be the case next season, I don't expect Bayer Leverkusen to have an almost perfect campaign they had in the just concluded season
