If judged from achievements in the Premier League, Ten Hag has failed to make Manchester United a club that is ready to compete in the top four, so there is no reason for Manchester United to continue working with Ten Hag.
I respect your thinking but I don't want to be unfair to Erik ten Hag honestly. Let's take the last season as an example. Manchester United faced a huge injury problem. So many important players were absent for a long time which affected their performance directly. I don't think this is a bad excuse. Every team would have serious difficulties in such condition.

Even though many players are injured, Erik Ten Hag should be able to close this gap. A great coach can carry out good rotations and take various steps so that the club does not experience setbacks.
Manchester United has great players. I believe that if they can play solidly and the chemistry between players and coaches is good then the club will not easily experience setbacks during. This time Erik Ten Hag trains his players quite hard and makes the players feel uncomfortable which might make the Man U players not play optimally.
Their defense was affected the most by this. They conceded too many goals. Even when Varane returned from injury he couldn't perform decently. We didn't even see Lisandro Martinez being able to play properly either.
It is true that the club's defense last season was quite bad. I think this is because Ten Hag was not good at recruiting his back line players, especially the Man United goalkeeper. In my opinion Andre Onana cannot be relied on as a goalkeeper since he was recruited by Erik Ten Hag and filled his starting 11 not making many saves so often conceding goals.
Unlike the previous season, when David De Gea was still Man United's goalkeeper, the club did not concede as many goals as last season. If Erik Ten Hag had not replaced him with Andre Onana, the club would not have experienced as many problems.
