This is the same as what happened with Napoli in the 2023/2024 season. In the previous season they appeared very impressive and managed to win the Serie A title. Everyone thought they would dominate Serie A again in the following season. Or at least become a title contender. But what happened was that this season they performed poorly and only managed to finish in 10th position in the standings.

But in my personal opinion Leverkusen is different from Napoli. They even started the season with lesser-known players. Honestly, I think Xabi Alonso is a genius coach because he managed to make a mediocre team into one of the best teams in European history. I'm not sure they will be able to repeat the unbeaten record they made this season. But I believe Leverkusen still has a chance to win the Bundesliga title again next season.
