I know this is common sense to the majority of people on this forum but I can't stress how important it is to gamble responsibly.
There was a recent case in Australia where a man lost his entire life savings of $400,000+ in a 48 hour gambling spree.
The gambler lost $12,000 in a single bet and then tried to chase that initial amount but ended up losing his life savings.
I am a seasoned and experienced gambler and my one piece of advice to people is to only bet what you can afford to lose otherwise you are setting yourself up for failure.
It was sad what happened to him, and how sorry he was for spending so much of his savings just to chase his previous losses. I don't know how he could think so short-sighted in just 48 hours after losing so much money. I think he will be stressed after that.
In gambling, when we lose there are always whispers to gamble again because we hope there is still hope, there is a win to cover previous losses, even though that is a trap in gambling. If we cannot control our emotions and follow our emotions then that is what will happen, our savings and even our immovable assets will run out. We have to be smart when gambling, we have to be sane in order to be responsible gamblers. There are also many people who spend a lot of money gambling while drunk, in my opinion this should also be avoided even though we can gamble responsibly but while drunk it is better not to gamble because it will also result in losses without us realizing it.
