This is not the first of his kind to see teams selling their coach that have brought them success to other teams that are also in desperate need of them. Like the case of Xabi Alonso of Bayern Leverkusen, I think he was given many offers from other clubs but decided to stay back in Bayern Leverkusen to strengthen the team more, I don’t know if his pay check was increased but it seems so for him not to accept other big offers from big clubs. Maybe Leicester were not financially buoyant to keep him by increasing his pay check and went to join a bigger club were he’ll get more pay for his work. Maresca will do well at Chelsea but I don’t guarantee his success in the first year yet which will depend on how good of a coach he is.
It has always been the culture of many middle class clubs or those rated lower to actually give opportunities to their employees when a bigger club offer comes. The Leicester city club we’re going to later get a good coach but the problem will be will Enzo Maresca gets such opportunity in his life again? I doubt. It was a good move as Leicester also had to get a buy out clause from Chelsea which was a good profit made. Their new head coach Copper is also not that bad too, he would most likely continue from where Enzo left, that’s one advantage of being a little club manager, the expectations are not much which reduces the pressure on the manager
Most at times, some of them don't really care about having such opportunity again in the future when offer like this comes. They prefer to gamble with their career in bigger clubs where the pay is significant and they will be quickly recognized. Decision like this is actually beneficial especially when you are able to deliver your work efficiently. Aside the financial benefits, they will gain more experience managing a big club and there is chance for them to become hot cake that every club would want to hire if they have impressive performance. Consequently, the criticism alone is enough to put them in a state of melancholy when their performance is short of expectations and the chances of getting hired after that is very slim. If Chelsea can be patient enough to give him more time and expect less from him (thou I doubt this) Maresca probably will be able to progress with the club to some extent.
