This statement is so true for Bitcoin investment because many people do not know the real purpose of investing in Bitcoin
I am finding this statement really confusing. Are there other purpose of investing in Bitcoin outside getting more than what you invested?, Because I don't think anyone in a right state of mind would want to invest in Bitcoin inorder to make loss. If you invest in Bitcoin, then your real purpose is to get more than the amount you invested after a specific time. The same thing goes for me, and every other person, so I don't know the other
real purpose you think many people do not know about.
Not all people that are into bitcoin investment that their primary purpose are profit maximization. There are people who has bitcoin because of the prestige in it. They just want to own bitcoin and hold it in their portfolio so that when they are counting people who have bitcoin their names will be among. Even in economics it is there, some people make some certain investment not because their main purpose is profit, but for prestige. These set of people are willing to hold on to bitcoin even if others are continuously cashing out. If you notice very well, there are people who invest billions of dollars just to own a particular work of art, not that the painting is doing anything for them economically, but they just want their name to be on record that such person are among the few or the only one who own such thing in the world.
At some point you begin to wonder if Microstrategy is actually after profit making in bitcoin or they just want their name to be among the top bitcoin holders. So they keep buying just to keep being among the top holders of bitcoin in the world. At this point profit maximization is not their aim, it doesn't give them the satisfaction, rather they derive satisfaction in just being among the top holders of bitcoin in the world. So there could be various reasons why people make investment in bitcoin other than profit making.
