Bayern Munich management just wanted Vincent Kompany to become Bayern Munich's coach; there were so many good managers that Bayern Munich would have contacted when they failed with their number-one choice. I know Jose Mourinho's style of play is somehow outdated, but he should have been a better option for Bayern Munich than Vincent Kompany. Yes, managing a club like Bayern Munich will be a big challenge for Vincent Kompany. The expectations from Bayern Munich management will put a lot of pressure on Vincent Kompany if he does not win his matches.
This was not easy as you are saying Bayern Munich management wants this was surely not into their list but after having humiliation as too many big names rejected their offer, and they were feeling embarrassment so at the end they have this gamble which is surely going to be toughest for them because in case of failure they will be not able to have any suitable replacement with most of the big names already committed with other clubs or rejected their offer due to their last few poor decisions.

José Mourinho is surely their good option, but they were not interested as they know he is already having bad time and things are not going favourable for him so they take this bold decisions and bring new generation coach which can do anything with their club because this is big gamble by them and this can go either way with in case of success this could be career maker for the Vincent Kompany.
It's a little strange to hear that a club like Bayern Munchen received three rejections from the prospective manager they were targeting, I never imagined that, so the management and club officials decided to appoint Kompany as Tuchel successor next season. For Kompany, becoming manager of Bayern Munchen is a career leap, and of course the former Burley manager is very motivated by his new job. Actually, Tuchel deserved to be given another season, and Bayern Munchen probably never thought they would have difficulty finding a new manager and getting three rejections.

Personally, I see that Mourinho is still on the list of top European managers, perhaps in the consideration of Bayern Munchen management, Mourinho is not the right person so they decided to appoint Kompany. In terms of experience, Mourinho is certainly better than Kompany, but Bayern Munchen seems to want to have a young manager like Leverkusen. Kompany appointment of course poses a risk to their chances of achieving success next season, and we have not seen Kompany manage a lineup containing a number of star players.
