What will be your suggestion for my friend to recover from the gambling addiction.

Since you've adviced him on his gambling manners and yet he doesn't realizes that he's an addict even when he has lost all of his income and now indulging on taking loans on the struggling to recover his lost funds, just ask him to check his savings now and then to see the difference and make him understand that the more he's trying to recover that lost is the more he's losing more from his income.
He has lost more than the initial amount he tried to recover in the beginning so, ask me how much does he think he can bet more in other to recover his lisse, definitely he won't have answer to that so, tell him to begin a new life and let the last go if not he'll keep loosing as he'll be accumulating debts to himself.

If a piece of advice or suggestion is really no longer able to make a gambler realize that they have entered the addiction phase then I think it is quite difficult to overcome, or that means they are already at a fairly chronic level of addiction which requires more effort. to be able to get out of that zone to recover, and in my opinion if suggestions and various input can no longer help then yes in the end this is a matter of time, or what I mean is we can only wait for the time for them to realize their mistake.

Because usually in any case regret will always be a certain thing but maybe each person has a different time to reach that time, and usually they will be able to reach awareness within themselves when they really experience adversity that really makes life they're broken, I think that's the only situation that can really make them realize their inner self.
