Boehly made a lot of mistakes when he hired Potter as coach, it was not very smart because he is not a top coach and you shouldn't expect any great results from him. Perhaps now he is repeating the same mistake when he tries to hire an unknown coach, hoping only that Maresca once worked with Guardiola, and his knowledge will be enough to take Chelsea to a higher level. I see that Boehly is prone to adventurism, somewhat spontaneous decisions that cannot bring good results, because they are often based only on expectations, and not supported by experience and results in the major leagues. But this is his team, his decisions and therefore he does what seems right to him.
IMO, it wasn't Potter who was incompetent, but it was the Chelsea players at that time who were unprepared and experienced a storm of injuries. Potter was not given many choices, in fact he only used the players Tod Boehly brought in. whether it suited his system or not, he didn't seem to think much about it. as a result, Chelsea fell apart. In fact, changing coaching which was temporarily handled by Chelsea legend Prank Lampard did not improve. Then, Poche was appointed to handle Chelsea, sadly they stumbled at the start of the competition. Luckily for Poche, in the end he brought Chelsea to finish in sixth place. after that, he chose to end handling Chelsea. I suspect that Poche was not really involved in selecting the squad according to the team's wishes and needs.
Now Chelsea is managed by Enzo Maresca, I don't really follow what Todd Boehly is doing. but it doesn't seem like there are many choices with the coaches available, that's why it looks like Chelsea management appointed Enzo Maresca as Pochettino's replacement. After all, Chelsea's problems are not just about the coach. but overall, at least from my point of view. Moreover, currently Chelsea is almost dominated by young players, it is likely that Maresca will need time to get the most out of his team. I don't know if you agree or not, but Todd Boehly should not interfere too much in recruiting matters, the team, as we often see. the reason is, they have people who work in that field. The sports director is the one who should play the most role. Nevertheless, Chelsea has appointed Enzo Maresca as head coach at Stamford Bridge. We'll see how far he can make Chelsea better.
