i have seen the word airdrop here in the forum many times but recently i encountered a social media post on a major platform advertising airdrops as a profitable opportunity. i realized many people now are recommending crypto-related things even in mainstream platforms

Anyway, my question is: how can you actually be profitable with airdrops? i personally have not participated in one (yet, i am very interested in doing so) so i have no idea how many tokens are given for free for each address? is it just one or two? if so, how is that profitable when a lot of projects don’t even reach $1 and it will just be luck if it reaches three digits?

i got curious because in that post i saw, many said that you can earn two to three digits (in us dollars) with airdrops so how are you profitable if you have 5 tokens from airdrops and it reaches just about a dollar?
The meaning of airdrop in the crypto community means giveaway. In my opinion, it is a process of giving out newly launched or developed projects to some users that participated in sharing good words about the project on either social media platforms or some users that perform specific tasks for the project owners so that the coin will gain popularity.

Back then, in the last decade, airdrops have been a god source of gaining free tokens, and the coins do normally do well in the crypto space. As a result, many users use airdrops as a means of earning money and a means of holding some coins, depending on how they believe in the project. Now, airdrops are not as legit as they used to be because scammers have found methods easier to get access to users' wallets to move some of their valuable coins they may be holding in their wallets. Yet, there are good projects that are coming through airdrops, but be cautious about the projects you participate in to avoid being scammed.

If you want to participate in airdrops, make sure you have a separate wallet for your airdrops, and once you are lucky to hit money from any of the projects, make sure you withdraw the coin from your airdrop wallet because the wallets are public and can easily get compromised.
