ETH was asked to stay, and if the team decided to keep Erik Tan Hag, then they have to follow what he wants. And with typical Dutch manager fashion, he brought in the next star on his list, because he knows how to manage Dutch players and that is who he wanted. I believe that we are going to see them do much better with time, and ETH is building a team that he can control and he can manage.

This transfer could be a great one or a terrible one, we do not know but what we know is that they are trying to do their best, which is all you can ask from them. This may take a while, but it doesn't mean that we are not going to see any success, of course they are going to do fine, they just need some time but could be great right away too.

Personally, I have never had faith in what Ten Hag can do, but if it is to make MU great again like before, then I hope it works for him. It is a fact that the club does not have much money to look for a coach who really measures up. For me, there are many opportunities for him to see if something good comes out of it, but for me it will not work.

I would say that the entire MU team is super good, but it could shine with another coach, although the club does not see it that way. I do not know, but sometimes I think that the owners of the club no longer have that love for the team.

Erik ten Hag: 'At Man United the standard is you win games and definitely don't lose games'

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag admits there is plenty of hard work still to do after his side opened their pre-season preparations with a 1-0 defeat away to Rosenborg.

The majority of the first-team squad were not involved in Trondheim, and Jadon Sancho – who has returned to training after resolving his differences with Ten Hag – was also not part of the travelling group which was mostly made up of youth players.

Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount, Casemiro and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, though, were all in the starting line-up at the Lerkendal Stadion, along with veteran defender Jonny Evans.
