There is a current trend in my country where parents are doing everything financially possible to give their children the best education. Some parents have gone to the extent of selling properties or taking loans to send their children to some of the best schools in and outside the country. I have spoken with some of them, and the reason they give is that this child will get good jobs and take care of them in the future.
These parents are risking really high... Nothing guarantees there are going to be high paying jobs for their children in the future, neither that their children will take care them in the future. It's not an obligation by the law. It's just an ethical expectation, since it's expected the young ones take care of the older members of the family in every species of animals. However, what we see among humans is that the young generations are dropping the elders at caring centers and nursing homes.
Elders aren't seen as wise individuals the family want to have nearby. They are seen as a heavy burden the family wants to get rid as soon as possible... It's harsh to say these words, but that is what is happening in this modern world, especially among those who put money above everything else, what I believe to be the case here, since the parents are educating their children to develop that kind of mindset in the future.
I believe the limit when investing in a child's education must be what the family can afford to pay. Nothing exaggerated like selling properties should be done. The most essential material in someone's education is love, followed by attention and care.
