It is people that have self-control when gambling and will not go against overspending funds for gambling or go beyond their gamble budget that can take gamble as their hobby because they already have the understanding that they don't need to think of profit all the time but accept whatever the outcome of their bet is.
I got trapped by addiction for long and when I was able to overcome it, I started gambling occasionally to see how I can start gambling again but let it be in the lowest minimal so that I don't get trapped again. I am enjoying the way I gamble because I only gamble when I have chance depending on my mood at that moment.
I think over spending doesn't matter in some aspect. I can set a budget to gamble and when I notice that I'm about to lose, I can put an extra fund to counter bet the initial bets that I have stake in the first place and that can't be considered as over spending because if you look at it critically, this is either going to help you recover your initial or if you lost it, your initial will get you something that will be 4 times bigger than what you lose, this is just my scenario of over spending doesn't mean times.
Gambling is hobby but if you look deep into gambling, it's not hobby but a means of money making for people, that's just the primary intentions of many gamblers but it's not all of them that win money gambling and that is the sad reality of gambling, you can't win everytime which can be hurtful sometimes when you placed amount and have high expectations on the outcome.
