It is not always good to invest money excessively in the development of your child. I don’t know what it’s like to raise my own children yet, but I have friends who have been raising children for a very long time.
And they often say something strange to me: you need to live for yourself and not for the sake of your children. I think they mean that many people forget about themselves and do not spend money on themselves, but they need to keep their style and property at a high level.
I think like with anything any sort of financial planning should be done with both the parents and children in mind.
This brings up something that sort of makes me laugh. I used to date a girl in the beginning of my college career where here mother did absolutely everything for her. She was bratty and had so few manners because her mother didn't focus on those sorts of things with her, it was just all about giving her everything she could. I remember thinking "what a brat" as her mom would get herself in positions of not living the life she could just because she wanted to spoil her daughter. So yeah you could definitely take it too far as a parent.
I think this is an important point that every parent should know. I don't think it's a good idea for parents to invest in their children by selling their property. As parents we also need time to have fun and we don't have to sacrifice everything for our children. If I were a parent I would give what I can to my child. I want my child to be able to understand the financial situation of his parents. I prefer to give my time and education of attitude to my child because it will be the foundation of his life in the future. I often find incidents like what you said @ChiBitCTy, sometimes parents spend their wealth for their child's education but they don't pay attention to their attitude and morals. They only think that by sacrificing a lot of money their child will be educated in a prestigious university and will become someone who is moral and successful in the future. In fact, the most important education is what is obtained from parents, not from the school environment.
