In other words as far as Bitcoin is concerned, he'll be like Elon Musk on steroids!
People struggle to accept that nobody controls Bitcoin because, frankly, very few truly understand it. Unless Bitcoin is attacked at the protocol level, everything else is just temporary noise. Over time, Bitcoin's inherent principles will silence this noise, much like gravity eventually pulls everything back down.
Talking just about the
price of Bitcoin--the only thing 99% of people in the community seem to care about

--the introduction of US politics into Bitcoin means that it's now controlled at the whim of US politics. That's why so many are "excited" about Trump pandering to Bitcoin: because they think he will make the price go up.
The
technical takeover of the network is another discussion (which, let's agree, should not be dragged into
this discussion), but if Bitcoin retreats to being $1 in the future it will be effectively "dead" to 99.9% of its current users regardless of the status of the network.
And if politics and politicians control what 99% of a thing's users care about, then... politics and politicians control that thing. Giving the US government the power to manipulate the price of Bitcoin gives the US the power to manipulate the Bitcoin network in all practicality.
