Oil is a natural resources so there's no way a natural resources is going to be a curse to a country unless those managing the country are thief that do not want their people to benefit from the natural resources that their country has. A natural resource when used correctly is meant to improve the lifes of the citizens of the country, it mightn't be able to make everybody rich but it should improve the lifes of those living in that country. Most people just want to be able to afford three squad male and they don't care about the wealths in the world but the evil politicians wants to enslaved everyone and become the only ones enjoying by selling out their nation.
But a situation where the proceeds are miss managed it will turn to be a cause as individual will rise against individual, states Wil rise against starts, countries will rise against countries.
This doesn't mean the natural resources was a curse, it just means those in power aren't supposed to be their because they don't have the best interest of the nation at heart. When a good leader takes over, the country is going to enjoy their natural resources. Countries that have been able to make good use of their oil are world richest countries right now. The world is being powered by oil and no country that has it should be suffering but unfortunately that isn't the world we find ourselves in because I'm writing from a country that has one of the best oils yet our minimum wages is around $45.
