No doubt if making gambling as a source of income can makes someone become addicted. He will playing gambling without thinks about stopping his gambling activities. He will lose his carefulness because he thinks that gambling is fun and gives him more chances to win.

If he realizes that many gamblers already lose their money, he will not takes risks in gambling. He will always be careful playing gambling and only use some money to gambling. He doesn't want to chase winning or recover his losses because he knows that can lead him lose more money.

That is why we must only use the money we can afford to lose in gambling. With self control, we prevents the lose and will not be bigger because we really want to prevents it. We know that gambling is just for fun so we don't have any intention to chase the winning and only enjoy our time.

No one gamble with the intention of losing. All we want is to make wins even while gambling for fun. The goal in gambling is to have more wins than loss, but sometimes we are not lucky enough to achieve our preplanned targets, so we just have to accept it the way it is, rather than trying to chase our losses or something else. Gamble is a game of luck, and when you understand this, you can give some self advice and let the loses slide. A good way of enjoying your gamble experience is by reducing your stakes so you can have longer gambling time and spend less in gambling, so even if you experience loses it would mean nothing to you as the stakes are small.

Of course, regardless of what and how your goal is in gambling, winning is always much better and more enjoyable than losing, there will only be one of two results that you will get in every session which is winning or losing, and you will never know about what makes you win and what has made you lose, there is no one way or any way in general, the point is as you said above that when it turns out we win then it means we are lucky, that's all.
So you have to think that winning is a lucky situation for you and losing is a natural part of gambling, there is no reason to make you feel great after you win and no reason to make you feel emotional when you lose, this is a random game that is always unknown about the results and that is why people call it a game of luck. This is a basic understanding that everyone must have before they dive into gambling, meaning that gamblers who are now addicted and experience many bad impacts are those who do not have a basic understanding as I said.
