Unfortunately, it is very common for gamblers to believe that luck is waiting around the next corner.
I mean, they always expect the next bet to be a winner, time after time. I knew a gambler who had a hard time deciding to stop, but when his brother won a big win, this guy immediately went to place bets, he thought luck was near. And unfortunately, he continued his losing path.
Thats exactly, what is misleading where some of us are sometimes overconfident by assuming that we will definitely profit if we continue to gamble without caring about our financial condition so that they continue to try again and again which is ultimately a trap.
Not a few people feel that they will continue to profit by gambling continuously because of the hope of profit in the next round but they do not realize that in the end they are given a false opportunity because they are too confident in the game they are doing.
The fact is that gambling must be realized that the defeat will be far greater than the victory that is owned so that even though it is good enough because we are confident in the round that is done but in the end we must also realize that in gambling we only depend on luck and do not force luck when you feel that you have lost it would be better to stop and try another time.

I think rationally all of that happened because of excessive expectations of big wins that were initially based on a wrong understanding of how gambling really is, in any case misunderstandings can very likely trigger wrong actions that will lead us to something we don't want. And of course when someone has a high level of expectation then they will not care too much about their financial condition, they even dare to risk the last amount of money they have instead of using it for something more important.

Another thing related to the people you said who feel that they will continue to win are basically those who do not have a true understanding of gambling and how luck works so they continue to bet and feel that a much bigger win is near. That's why I would say that understanding is one of the keys to avoiding various impulsive actions, there is no connection between previous results and subsequent results especially when you bet on casino games, in the end and until whenever gambling will always be about luck as you said.

I would also say that risk awareness should be prioritized and maintained rather than focusing too much on winning, because it is a fact that the percentage of losses is much higher than wins.
