I don't think there is much wrong with Liverpool's current squad, of course the fans are waiting for a new star player to be added to the squad, maybe it could be because it would be an impressive innovation for the championship. But as you said the current squad is good enough to compete with Manchester City and Arsenal.

They played a very good game against Manchester United, Liverpool already gave good signals for the new season with a score of 3-0, so in the end the squad is the same and they are good to be honest.

Liverpool has already been built by Jurgen Klopp even though they are having challenges of Winning trophies and I see that Liverpool is the only team I feel can be able to compete with Manchester City because both teams plays same pattern of more of attacking. Liverpool squad is not bad despite that they didn't make any remarkable signings this summer. I think Arne Slot will do a nice job Liverpool to continue the legacy of Jurgen Klopp.
        Even though Liverpool won Manchester United by 3:0 in their friendly game but that is not enough reason to pass judgement about possible performance of Liverpool in the coming season, they can play well in friendly games and begin to flop in league games so pre season games should not cause much excitement about the performance of a particular team.
