Perhaps native tokens are useful to developers not the holders although if they are successful to an extent it will become profitable to both holders and developers, outside this it's initial purpose is to money from users and then fund the rest of their event that could attract investors and more users.

They are not generally useless but a means to get people into it, so don't get pissed when you see smaller projects getting their native tokens it's all for the money and fame, hence it it becomes reliable we can begin to use them frequently.
