Leverkusen are going to have another tournament to compete in this season you know, the Champions League.

I'm really curious about how good Xabi Alonso will deal with this.
I mean he is going to be expected to be successful in not only Bundesliga but also there this time. If I elaborate "success in the CL", I assume the expectation would be to qualify from league phase at least.
Can they do this though? If we see another dedicated effort this year too then why not?

With that kind of a performance they can even beat some of the biggest title contenders.
We shouldn’t put that much expectations on him in the champions league after a successful and glamorous season in the Bundesliga last season. The competitions are different and it’ll provide a lot of differences and playing atmosphere in this side. He can try and he could win it or even go farther than expected in his first try but he should not be a disappointment to many if he’s unable to give result as expected.
He may have did well in the Bundesliga in his first season managing Bayern Leverkusen but might be different in the champions league, not because he can’t try but because the experience there also matter and without that experience, you can’t be able to go farther in the champions league like you can do in other leagues. It is most often given you little chance to prove yourself and make it to the next round and if you fail sometimes at your first trial, the second trial may not be able to bail you through to the next round.
