It is airdrops, all we can do is to hope on the team to the right thing as promised. Some of the projects do not get the recognition and the attention these once you mentioned have, some people only do these once because they knew that most of these games with end up as time wasting for all people playing the games.
On Catizen; I am hoping it will be a good project due to how genuine their roadmap is and how well organized the game is. The number of people playing the game are reasonable compared to all these tap games, and the way you have to spend some money to buy fish for your cats is another way to believe them because the process is continuous and looks real.
