Leverkusen are going to have another tournament to compete in this season you know, the Champions League. 
I'm really curious about how good Xabi Alonso will deal with this.
I mean he is going to be expected to be successful in not only Bundesliga but also there this time. If I elaborate "success in the CL", I assume the expectation would be to qualify from league phase at least.
Can they do this though? If we see another dedicated effort this year too then why not? With that kind of a performance they can even beat some of the biggest title contenders.
With the new form of qualifying to the round of 16 in the Champions League, I think Alonso stands a chance to qualify to the round of sixteen if they perform strongly as they did last season. The teams in the competition are all strong teams, and are all prepared for another season, therefore, I cannot exempt any team from advancing to the next round and we can’t take Leverkusen ahead of them because they couldn’t qualify to the round of sixteen the last time they played in the Champions League. With that kind of a performance they can even beat some of the biggest title contenders.Although Alonso changed somethings in the team to make them stronger than they used to be since they are able to win the Bundesliga title without a single defeat, they performed better than both Bayern and Dortmund since they are also able to make it to the Europa League final even though they couldn’t win it.
