I don't really know why xavi was Xavi was stopped but i don't really rhink it's because of what you just said "spend too much money".. Xavi knew the situation Barca was into and the only he could do was to bring in academy players to fit into some paces after there was so much injury so i would disagree with that although i'm not sure what happened.
Xavi was fired not because of his failure to bring Barcelona to the title last season, but he was fired because his relationship with management became less harmonious. Xavi is a Barcelona legend and he loves his club to this day, but the business perspective is very different, especially when you are working.
Barcelona's finances have not been great so far and that has seen them exploit all the potential of their academy players. Several young players have been launched since Xavi coached, but management still provides opportunities for the coach to bring in several new ones. Barcelona are not favorites in La Liga next season, but they are contenders.
