The Bilbao side have themselves to blame on this 1-1 draw, this is the first game of the season and every team would want to get all 3 point just to be at the top of the log but the manager Valverde gambled with the game, knowing quite well that the Getafe side also are hungry to make a statement and also want to get all 3pt, now you have see how difficult the defense line of your opponent are and the midfield down to the attacker are stronger and doing better than your team, why not bring in your attacking power Nico Williams to combine with his brother to make something happen but he waited till it was late, there was nothing to do with how the away team was pressing and defending, it was well planned by Getafe.
The away team played better to even put more pressure on the host and I was expecting a win but they (Getafe) were unlucky to not convert some of their chances and these guys became more faster than we used to know them, I just hope they continue like this to cause more problems to their opponent in the next game.
I agree that Bilbao manager Valverde made mistake by not bringing in Nico Williams sooner to boost their attack. Getafe strong defense and midfield made it difficult for Bilbao to create scoring opportunities. Valverde late substitution was too little too late and Getafe well planned strategy deserved win. Despite not converting their chances Getafe showed impressive speed and pressure making them formidable opponent. I hope they maintain this level of performance to cause more upsets in future games.
A rare performance shown by Getafe against Bilbao. Getafe had little possession of the ball. But, they were interesting with it against Bilbao. They also defended well from our attack. And i was not expecting we have difficulty beating Getafe at San Mames. I hate to see Getafe get a deserved point from it cuz it makes my bet collapse.
Also, i think we threw the game away with their midfield substitutions. And it was killing our mid, which is also helping Getafe to leave slowly from the pressure. This is not what i was hoping to see the draw on the opening week of La Liga.
And last, I'm very disappointed with Bilbao benching Nico.
So Bilbao didn't get the win and your bet's busted. But Getafe held their own. Less possession? Sure. But they were organized, disciplined, and hit Bilbao on the counter. That's the La Liga. The smaller clubs aren't pushovers anymore. They can go into anyone's stadium and scrap for a result
Bilbao's subs? Head-scratcher. They weakened their midfield. Valverde's got some explaining to do. Nico on the bench? Maybe he's easing him in. Or maybe he's overthinking it. Early season, coaches are still figuring things out
This ain't the end of the world. It's a wake-up call. Both teams learned something today. Bilbao needs to be sharper. Getafe? They're on the right track. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Let's see who makes the adjustments
