Imagine sending money from one place to another without involving any other party.

You don’t have to imagine that. Bitcoin can already be used in a peer-to-peer way. A centralized payment system, like Apple Pay, is the opposite of that. If Apple did allow Bitcoin payments they would only do so in a way which allows them to censor transactions or they could decide that only custodial wallets with KYC requirements are allowed to use their payment system.

This story is speculative clickbait. We don’t know which third party payments they will allow after this update. I doubt this is going to be such a big deal for Bitcoin. It will only matter if they decide to allow accepting direct Bitcoin payments from any wallet I choose and I can pay for all my App Store subscriptions with BTC, but that is not what is going to happen.
