Sri Lanka Women's third wicket partnership looked like Sri Lanka would win the match very easily. With a pair of wickets falling in two consecutive overs, Sri Lanka lost control of the match, especially when Harshitha Samarawickrama was run out in the team's 210 run with a personal 105 as Ireland women came back in the match. I expected Sri Lanka to win the second match to level the series, but a poor batting performance by the Sri Lankan middle order batsman ended up losing the series.
I would say that SriLanka loss this match which they should have won. They have done all the right things in this match but still they were unable to finish strong. Harshitha Samarawickrama run out was the turning point in the match as if she was there, making quick runs would not have been a problem for her as she had her eye in it, but seems like it was not their day.
If Sri Lanka's performance continues like this, it will be impossible to avoid a whitewash against Sri Lanka Women against Ireland Women in the third ODI today.
Srilanka have to make sure that they won the last ODI. They won't be able to save the series but it is for their own dignity that they would not want to lose to Ireland by 3-0. By the way, this final match will not be played today, it will be played tomorrow at Belfast.
