I initially thought Napoli would continue to retain Victor Oshimen and had no intention of selling him when they found out Napoli extended his contract and raised his salary. I thought it was solely so that Oshimen could continue to feel at home in Napoli. But for some reason, the club suddenly changed its plans and wanted to immediately sell this player at a high price to a top club so that they could reap huge profits even though this player is a very valuable asset. Napoli seemed to forget Oshimen's previous sacrifices that led Napoli to win the Serie A title. Even though if Oshimen stayed at Napoli, it would also be good for the club because he would still contribute well, his abilities are still quite good on the front line.
Although Osimhen is an asset for Napoli, I think he will develop better when he is in another club. It doesn't mean Napoli is not good, he has shown how Napoli can win Serie A. Oshimen is very productive. And even though this season is not so good for him and the team. He still made extraordinary achievements for the team.
I think the contract extension given to Oshimen only binds him so that he does not leave the club for free. Now Napoli has a very good chance to get benefits and strengthen the club's finances.
If their target is not to be the champion this season, I think it doesn't matter with the current team. They are still able to compete in the middle of the Serie A standings. I don't expect much for Napoli to be able to compete at the top of the standings.
Osimhen's departure from Napoli is not so about the club, but the player himself. I think Osimhen wants out, and Napoli have no option but to look for a good fee for a striker as good as Osimhen. Conte would have loved to keep such an amazing striker, but when a player wants to go, you have to let them go.
There are murmurs that Lukaku is joining Napoli, and it's a fact that Lukaku is great at the Serie A. Napoli does not look that strong as of right now, because I really don't see that level of determination and guts from Antonio Conte. I think they are happy with a UCL spot, and that's it. If Napoli wants to win the league, they have a long way to go, and that starts with proper management, strengthening the squad a bit more with the money that they get from selling Osimhen.
If Napoli does not sort things out soon, they are in trouble. Serious problems are gonna occur, and since the other teams are getting better with Juve, both Milans, Napoli need to fix things ASAP.
