Not just other people, I mean it involves the help of a professional because gambling addiction is not something an ordinary person can just help fix out. It's like a spell placed on the mind of the victim and no matter how much loses and win especially the loses he will keep telling himself that there is another chance to give it a try and who knows he might be lucky and that's what causes all the big loss. It's a serious problem in the world at large and so many people have even resulted in taking their life's because of this.

This cannot be overcome alone, when someone is addicted to gambling, it can really make someone blind to everything even though they have experienced many defeats and big losses. Always assuming that "The next chance might bring luck" is a trick that makes people even more deaf. Breaking out of this cycle can be very difficult, therefore the individual needs to get encouragement from family, neighbors, or professionals. This is a life-saving moment and a step to save the future.

For gambler to ask someone to give him such outrageous amount so he can use it to stake bets and use the winning to offset his debts is sign that gambling addiction have really eaten deep in his mental health. He really needs help from  anyone around him to come out of such addiction. At this level of addiction, the best thing to do is to send such gambler to a rehabilitation center where he'll not have any access to gamble again. I think with such measure, he'll break free from gambling addiction

When a gambler reaches the point where he asks for large amounts of money to be able to gamble in order to pay off the debt, then it is an advanced addiction. At this stage, intervention is very necessary. Perhaps sending him to a rehabilitation center would be the right choice because there he will get professional support and because a sense of security (not gambling) may be realized. This can allow him to get out of the cycle of addiction and start rebuilding his life.
