In the most of the occasions, it would seem to me people are more likely to stop gambling or close their gambling session when they are losing money or when they are having a very back streak, and if you think about it, it makes sense and that is why casinos are so profitable for their owners, when gamblers lose, the house wins, that is not a secret.
If an important percentage of gamblers out there withdrawn from their session when they are having a winning streak or when they are in profit, then gambling would not be as profitable as it is to casino owners, it would taken them more to get the same amount of money from losing gamblers.
In my personal case, what I do is setting up a very rigid gambling budget and follow it very closely, it is usually a very humble one, money one can afford to lose, as everyone calls it.
Yes I understand that and I also agree that in most cases usually gamblers will only stop when they have run out of money, and that is obvious, or in the sense that they will definitely stop when they run out of money because there is no chance for them to continue playing. And as you said that this is why the casino always has the upper hand or is always the real winner, so that is why we have to be smart in managing our approach to gambling, not to beat the casino but at least to make yourself safe enough and avoid much worse possibilities.
Like the approach you have where you really maintain a minimum budget allocation along with strong discipline, and the point is yes the most important thing is to always use the amount of budget that you are ready to lose, and besides that also limit your expectations of winning, gamble for entertainment and just think of the win as a bonus that will only happen once in a while.
