I want to asked here.. What could make you stake bet with a motorcycle or any physical properties knowing too well that when lose you can't afford to let go your motorcycle or property.
It's desperation that can make someone do that. Yes, I saw that desperation in both the biker and the betting shop while reading through your post. On the part of the biker, he didn't want to miss out on what he felt was going to be a winning bet while on the part of the betting shop they didn't want to lose out on what they knew was a sure loss but profit for them. It was a case of them thinking they could easily recover the money since the staked bike was much more in value than the staked amount. It was a pity it turned out sour.
How could this act be properly prevented, or does it mean that the betting shop should stop accepting people using anything not less than money to stake bet or what?
I think betting shops should have standard rules that should prevent something like that. It's unprofessional and could jeopardize their businesses. What if what you witnessed degenerated to fisticuffs and someone got hurt physically or got killed in the process? Even if someone wants to stake something else that isn't money, for me the standard thing will be for them to first exchange it for cash and then bet with the cash. That way, the gambler will be placing their bet in fiat, not asset.
