Failing to win the German Bundesliga last season I think means that Vincent Kompany will be considered as a good choice if he he can help the club win the league title this season. However, if he manages to also win the UEFA Champions League title which I think will be almost impossible for him, then that will be the best way to shut his critics up and announce himself to the global stage. Just like you said, I also think Vincent Kompany's first major target this season will be to win the league title and then fight for any other available trophy
Making a deal out of Bayern Munich winning the bundesliga is something I will not be doing, I would rather even give my judgement based off their champions league performance than I would with their domestic league performance and this is because I know that they have won the bundesliga often and that at this point shouldn't be priority again as they would with the champions league where they aren't regular winners. When they lost the bundesliga last season after a series of winning it over a decade in a row, it felt like they were having their worse season but for me I saw it differently as my attention was on their champions league performance which was progressive at the time, for the bundesliga they have won too often, it shouldn't be a border to themselves s much as would with the champions league, more over the prestige is very different
