I needed to ensure that it was the BitTorrent I used to know way back or something else. Happy that you dropped the this saving me some minutes of trying to search the internet to know if there were two of them.
There is a token of the same name that you apparently can earn by seeding torrents, but that's a somewhat recent addition and has little to do with the (original) BitTorrent protocol itself.
By the way I BitTorrent isn't as popular as it used to be for filesharing and stuff.
Nonetheless it's become a standard for mirroring open source software and public domain files (e.g. Archive.org and various Linux Distros)! And that probably wouldn't have happened if it weren't an open, decentralized protocol
