It is also the first loss for Leverkusen in the Bundesliga since May 2023.

It is still an insane record to maintain of course. More than a whole year.

The magical run has come to an end but of course this doesn't point to anything such as the start of a bad form. I still see that dedication in the players' eyes. They never give up and want this back-to-back title. Losing some more points than last season would also help us watch a more competitive season too. I want Bayern Munich and Dortmund in it like I said before.
I could only imagine what xabi will be feeling like having to experience his second defeat as a Coach at Bayer Leverkusen, something he has experienced only once since he resumed as a coach at Leverkusen and that was at the end of the games in last season, a final which was almost quite understandable, as for the yesterday's defeat, it was quite unfortunate because Leverkusen took the lead much earlier but couldn't maintain it for the longest to get them still ahead as we would want them to be, nevertheless, this is literally going to serve as an interim for xabi and he's going to understand the magnitude of this season and probably going to improve on getting his defense to to their form so as not to suffer similar situations again this season because if they do it's going to affect them a long way.
Xabi is a coach who can learn a lot from a defeat, but it wouldn't be right to expect the same performance as last year. They are the only team in Bundesliga history to become champions without defeat. This shows that there will definitely be defeats in the league, last year's extraordinary performance was an exception. They are one of the championship candidates in Bundesliga again. There will be a tighter competition with Bayern this year.
Leverkusen had a breakout year last season, but, lightning doesn't strike twice. Xabi Alonso's a sharp tactician. But even the best coaches need tools. No major signings? That's a gamble. Champions League is different. More games, tougher opponents. Bayern and Dortmund aren't gonna roll over this time. They've seen the tape, they know Leverkusen's playbook
Thin squad, that's the worry. A couple injuries, and suddenly Alonso's scrambling. The Bundesliga's heating up, it's not just Bayern anymore. Leverkusen's gonna need more than just tactics to keep up. This season's gonna test Leverkusen. Alonso's gotta prove he's not a one-hit wonder. The players gotta step up. Can they do it? We'll see
