Bayer Leverkusen have had an underwhelming start to the 2024/25 Bundesliga campaign, and it's a sign that they're going to struggle this season. I know no team can stay undefeated forever, but I think Bayer Leverkusen's way of playing is problematic. If they do not quickly regain their form and improve their weaknesses, Leverkusen will find it difficult to defend their "throne" in Germany against the return of Bayern Munich. Besides Bayern vs Leverkusen, Dortmund vs RB Leipzig are also qualified to compete for the Bundesliga championship. Therefore, this year's season will be very interesting.
However, the fact that Bayer Leverkusen's leadership succeeded in retaining "chief architect" Xabi Alonso, as well as not losing any stars in the main squad, is the basis for fans of this team to hope to defend the Bundesliga championship.
I agree Bayer Leverkusen slow start to season is worrying but I don't think they are out of running yet. Their way of playing has some problems but they have good team and smart coach Xabi Alonso. It is good that they kept Alonso and their best players. But they need to fix their weaknesses fast to keep up with strong teams like Bayern Munich and others. Bundesliga is always tough and this season will be very exciting. Leverkusen fans have reason to be hopeful but team needs to play better to keep their title. It is too early to give up on them but they need to improve soon.
I see the problem is in their defense, in two matches they have conceded 5 goals, this is quite worrying and must be fixed immediately considering the Bundesliga is now increasingly competitive, because if we talk about Leverkusen's attack line, it can still be relied on to compete, I have no doubt about it. And of course Xabi Alonso must have known and evaluated the weaknesses in his team and of course they are currently fixing what went wrong to get back on the winning track. As you said the league is still young, only 2 matches have been played out of 34 matches. The chances of defending the title are still very high.
