If the player is trying to make a game with his work and it is unlikely that it will already be a hobby, but rather the main way of the ease. And a fool who really play for the sake of entertainment on weekends or with friends in some kind of short period can definitely be called a hobby in this case .

In other words, if the hobby is not getting you distracted or harming you in any way such as financially then we can consider it as a hobby.
Although hobbies are meant to be enjoyed during free times, some persons actually do pursue their hobbies excessively which can be distracting and addictive. People can actually go through any length to enjoy their hobbies and most times, money is usually lost too.

There are different kinds of gambling games a person can have personal interest in and pursue it as his hobby. If he loses money while enjoying what he loves, it does not change the fact that that's his hobby. After all, people lose money when they go on vacations, pay tickets, buy equipments just to satisfy their hobbies. Those who get carried away with the fun they get from their hobbies will definitely get addicted. Even though most gamblers get excited when they win in gambling, the money itself is not what sustains them, gambling to them is all about passion.
