Do you think governments will use Blockchain way beyond financial apps? If not, why?
Of course, they will. Because blockchain is a great means of control and is a direct path to digital slavery. Any actions of each citizen will be stored in this distributed registry, which will be impossible to change or delete. The government will not want to give up such an ideal tool of influence.
If we talk about CBDC. In a fiat-free world, where payment is accepted only in CBDC, freezing a citizen's account (for one reason or another) will be equivalent to "digital death", when this citizen simply disappears for the "system".
For some time, governments have been talking about launching digital currencies of their own in collaboration with central banks. Financial apps have been the primary use case of Blockchains.
For me, one thing is a little unclear.
Blockchain implies a distributed registry, i.e. decentralization, which would contradict CBDC, which is centralized. Then it would not be a blockchain, but something completely different under this wrapper.
So far, countries like Russia, the US, and China are only interested in the monetary aspect of Blockchains (finance). But things could change in the future, right?
The time will come when their interest will extend far beyond the financial sector.
Blockchain is like atomic energy, which can be used for the benefit of humanity (nuclear power plants) or for harm (greetings from Oppenheimer). But it seems to me that the
genie has already been released and there is no turning back.
