Just encountered this news -
"DuckDuckGo blocked in Indonesia over ..., gambling search results." which has dropped a bomb on me. I have never been in this country and always thought it is loyal to gambling. But it seems to be not. How does the matter lie at present? I wonder this because of my plans to visit Indonesia for a couple of weeks and when visiting countries for the first time I commonly show myself round the local casinos.
“Privacy-focused search engine DuckDuckGo has been blocked in Indonesia by its government after citizens reportedly complained about pornographic and online gambling content in its search results.”Not really that surprising considering that search results include not only gambling content. It is a lot easier, and makes sense even, to block the platform if it is full of content the government would not want generally. Plus, it’s not unprovoked either many have complained.
I don’t know where you got the impression that Indonesia is “loyal” to gambling. Regardless of religious beliefs of a country, I think any country would take extra precautions over a platform that shows pornography and others.
