If we analyze most of the options you will see that each club actually hire managers base on the culture of play in the club, before Bayern Munich actually signed Vincent Kompany they were top coaches available, example is Mourinho and Conte who were both available then and they didn’t get a mention, there was the likes of Zidane also on the market, but they ended up picking Kompany. A decision that was said to have been also influenced by Pep Guardiola who happened to be both Kompany’s ex manager and also that of Bayern’s.
That’s much more logical but let’s look further, is Kompany the coach who has the playing culture that Bayern Munich are looking for? I don’t think so because Bayern Munich have targeted some of the coaches they wanted but the coaches they wanted weren’t available. That’s why they decided to hire Kompany and despite the many doubts about his ability as Burnley manager.
But sometimes people don't see that at Burnley there are not many options for him because of the quality of the players they have so it's difficult to develop the game. It's too early to decide Kompany will be a great coach because we haven't seen the crucial games that will bring together strong teams.
