Poker is the most magnificent form of gambling. It has many advantages, starting from the fact that the skill of each of us has the maximum influence on the game (not like in slot machines, where nothing depends on the gambler) and ending with the fact that it is a trivially interesting game, because poker is played even by companies of friends for fun, without money.

I like to play freerolls, or tournaments where small investments are needed, and I want to say that you can win money there, this is not a myth but a reality. The main thing is to have fun while playing.

It's the best form of gambling because ypu can actually sway the odds in your favor with your experience and game play.  The house merely takes a cut but you play against other people.  What other game can ypu have the losing hand amd still continuously win.  Find aggressive players amd play tight, find tight players amd play aggressive.  As long as ypu are willing to change your game play and style based on the players ypu will be fine.

I know that good chess players very often also like to play poker, like mathematicians. All because they realize that they really have a chance to win and Profit, and if you compare with slot machines, or any other types of gambling, then in poker we ourselves, due to our skills, really greatly influence the outcome of the game. And even if this is not a high level of influence on the game, when a beginner can beat a professional due to luck, but sufficient for the skills to be useful.

Yeah I can see chess being on the same level but that's not completely random like poker is.  Poker still has a gambling element to it in that you can't predict the cards ypu are going to get whereas in chess everything is right out in front of ypu no surprises.  To put it cleanly anytime you are playing against individuals and not the house ypu habe an opportunity to consistently win based on your level of play.  Poker is a beautiful game like that.

You have absolutely accurately established what defines the game as "gambling" - it is the influence of luck. It is the factor that allows any beginner to hope that he can win with the first bet in the casino, or in the first match in poker. How many times have I seen the showdown, and when the professionals with a high probability of winning this probability did not work. It turns out that this hope for a wild win attracts people both to the casino and to poker. After all, as we know - beginners are lucky, and it turns out that for them luck is an ally of the game. And when they get a win, they think that it is forever.
