I think said newbie jail was a thing before my time, but I have to wonder if these sporadic spamming problems were as bad back then--my gut tells me they weren't, and if that's true then Theymos would do well do give some thought to restoring the jail.  Brand New and Newbie accounts haven't contributed much for years anyway, so what's the big deal?  The number of members who've worked their way up the ranks in the past 3 years to become respected members who contribute to the forum positively and consistently I could probably count on one hand.
