As the gambling industry is evolving, I think innovations would have kicked in that can make someone create a career from gambling. I do not know how this can be achieved but I feel it is possible.
Making gambling a full time job might be seen as risky but I still feel one can make gambling full time job and a career.

To make gambling a full-fledged source of income, as a job, you will have to "play outside the rules" of the casino. In the conditions that the casino offers, it will not be possible to "put on the conveyor belt" earning money.
A career in gambling can be made in related professions (and not as a gambler), such as a commentator / organizer in poker or as a casino owner.
