Aston Villa is more like a fluke they can able to win against Bayern Munich and reach 5th position in Premier League. Currently Aston Villa only have good results, but their statistic are actually just like a mediocre teams. A strong teams need to have both good results and performance, Aston Villa don't really dominating the match and they have bad goal/conceded ratio.
It’s because this season they have dropped in performance the consistency in no more there as it was last season that’s why they have dropped some few unexpected points. Take the match against United as an example, they should have won Manchester United and pick all 3 points but they failed even as Manchester United is struggling this shows that they need to put in more effort to maintain their 5th position. They might do better as the season progresses, they need to do better else other teams will take their place, teams like Brighton and Newcastle are just two points behind so there is no room for mistakes.
Aston Villa is fifth in the table. At the same time, the team won the Champions League match against a strong team like Bayern Munich. This was a surprising result. Aston Villa's overall performance is good but this team cannot be called very strong.
Consistency is what they lack at the moment to be called a very strong team. They are good quite alright but they need to work on their consistency. They still need to improve their game and work harder and not be carried away by the win against Bayern Munich.
