I think it's for both genders, and generally there are more people who plays in a pure-luck based gambling games. Since, it does not require complex strategies, most people find it more convenient to just place a bet a wait for the luck to come.
But, I've seen women who plays skill based games like poker, chinese poker, and Mahjong and they are equally as good as men.
Maybe that is because that gambling games based on luck doesn't need to learn complicated lesson which can make them confuse. Not to mention how long they will learn more about how to play the games but also they need to search for many source of info to find the lesson that they needed. Not many people have their patience from learning that so only a few people who succeed with their learning and can play with better. I am sure those who can play skills based games already learn a lot to be a good player and not like other people who doesn't want to spend their time to learn. So that is why people choose the simple and easy gambling games to play without having to learn but it comes back to each people to choose what the gambling games they want.
