This is not correct. I can remember very well that under Xavi Hernandez, Barcelona did much better than Real Madrid when they meet. Xavi's problem was in European competitions and not against Real Madrid.
Xavi Hernandez won 5 out of the 7 meetings with Real Madrid ever he took over as the Barcelona head coach in 2021. Below are the notable wins;
- March 2022: Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 4-0 at the Bernabéu in La Liga.
- January 2023: Barcelona also won the Spanish Super Cup with a 3-1 victory. I remember this match like it was yesterday.
- Also, March 2023: Barcelona triumphed 1-0 in the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg and later 2-1 in La Liga.
I wonder where you drive your statistics from.
It is funny how you brought only the statistics of 2021 here and I clearly said Madrid were better other over the past two or three seasons here and why not run the statistics over uptil date. Barcelona first season under Xavi was when they won the league title and that was the season you’re bringing this statistics. Now let’s compare it,
In 2022/23,
First leg Madrid won 3-1
Second leg Barcelona won 2-1
Super cup Barcelona won 3-1
Copa del Rey semi final Barcelona won 1-0
Copa dem Rey semi final second leg Madrid won 4-0
2023/2024
Laliga first leg Madrid won 2-1
Laliga second leg Madrid won 3-2
Super cup Madrid won 4-1
In the 8 meetings I brought out the statistics here it is Madrid who had won more which is in five occasions to Barcelona’s 3 and they have a total aggregated goals of 18 goals scored to Barcelona’s 11 goals. In this two seasons they have won the super cup ahead of Barcelona in two occasions. I will still stand that Real Madrid had been the favourite going into each tie but not this season again.
