Your friend is correct. It is unlikely to stop gambling when you win a big prize. Even if you understands that stopping is the best option, you may return again someday. It must be a temporary stop only. When you have spent all the prize, I'm sure you will return to gambling again. If you really want to stop, you need a stronger reason.  Grin

People are different in life. As some people will not stop gambling after winning huge amount, some people will stop and not gamble again if they do not want to gamble again. While some people will continue to gamble moderately without wasting too much money. So it is possible someone can stop gambling after winning huge amount of money.

For gambling addicts, there is no good reason to stop gambling unless they are convinced that they have completely ruined their lives to the point that it is impossible to restore them. Therefore, I will answer the question on the subject from a purely personal point of view.
You mean an addicted person will not accept he is addicted to gambling unless he is convinced to truly see what is actually happening? That is true.
