I get why DireWolfM14 is concerned, especially since he was scammed before by someone who didn’t pay back a loan. He’s just looking out for the community to prevent that from happening again. Since most of us here are anonymous, trust is really what our accounts are built on. A lot of loan requests we see here are unsecured, and lenders rely heavily on an account's trustworthiness. Personally, I haven’t seen loans granted for amounts like $150k or more, so a request like this raises eyebrows, especially from someone in the DT who's working to keep the forum free from scammers.

That said, I don’t think we can jump to the conclusion that Etranger's loan request will lead to a scam. Any member, regardless of rank, has the right to request a loan, even newbies do it. Etranger's, being a long-time member, probably understands the community's standards. If we believe loans of this size require some form of collateral, we need to ask ourselves how we warn the community about members offering escrow services based solely on their reputation. There have been much larger sums of cryptocurrencies bigger than $150k that have been escrowed in the past, so there’s always some risk involved.

As for how Etranger’s plans to use the funds, that's his business. Our actions should be based on forum rules. Since he hasn’t scammed anyone yet, one option (if we feel it’s necessary) could be to tag him with a neutral rating. That way, we’re simply pointing out the risk of lending without collateral for such a huge amount of money.
