Nah, they're just gaming the asylum program that is meant for political dissidents.  Any reasonable govt would deny their application upfront, not give them a free work permit while they wait years for a judge to dismiss their specious claims of asylum, by which point many will have anchor babies and get to stay on humanitarian grounds. 

Besides, there are no good jobs and no affordable housing in America for them. Martha's Vineyard didn't want them.  NY and Denver bus them back and forth promising the jobs are just over the horizon.  Meanwhile 14% of working age males don't work, the workforce participation rate is the lowest it's been since women entered the workforce in mass. Uber is locking out drivers cause too many already waiting for a fare.   

Bringing in more low skilled labor at this point is insanity, and it means death for low income people who are already here struggling. The only reason Dems are doing this is to keep wages low and pump up Wall Street profits.  It's a Wall Street stimulus program disguised as humanitarianism.  Not terribly humane to a young American just starting out in life, to compete with 10 million foreigners for limited supply of housing and what few jobs remain.
