This is the first time I am hearing such sport in the international competition. Though I have been seen it in gym centres and local competition and not in the international competition. And I have not seen a Nigerian build himself to this level that full with body muscles.
Dauda won 2024 Mr Olympia, and go home with $600,000 which is equivalent to ₦900 millions in local currency. According to the news this is the highest reward given to an athlete in the body building sport history. The competition took place at the Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas in the United States in the weekend (12-10-2024). 15 athletes participated to the final and Samson Dauda won the final.

The competition is very old. Although I’m not a fan of body builders, I’m very familiar with the Mr Olympia competition, previous record holders like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronnie Coleman were the very first people and probably the only names I know in Body Building. Arnold Schwarzenegger was a seven time Mr Olympia champion before transitioning to Hollywood, his physique earned him action roles in movies like Terminator franchise e.t.c. There is also a dark side to body building, I don’t fancy the sport because of the high risk of injury to the body. Ronnie is in a wheelchair because of the squats he did when he was in his prime.
