It's not that this hasn't been noticed. I've heard of this match. I'm sure many others have also heard about this. It's just that this isn't the kind of fight that makes boxing fans excited. I'm not anticipating this match, like many others most probably.
Right, it didn't have he excited that we are looking for a Tank Davis match. Maybe there's no one to fight and he wanted to get busy at least before the end of the year. And Lamont is open for a fight so why not?
Betting on this match isn't that exciting either. This is too lop-sided a battle. There's a reason why the odds are saying Tank has more than 97% chance of winning. Lamont is a nobody who hasn't proven anything yet. Other than that, he moved up to lightweight and challenged Gervonta right away. I mean, is this even a serious bout?
Unless you bet on the underdog, however, it risky as we all know how Tank destroys his opponent. I wouldn't say that Lamont is nobody, he is a champion at 130 lbs so we should give him credit for that. But this is a tall order for him to move up to Tank's weight class and then think that he can defeat him.
Tank's camp has so much to say about Lamont being a strong, talented, solid fighter after they cherry-picked him. He was winning gold medals, championships, when he was amateur. He's a champion at 130. Blah blah blah. Tank is not cherry picking; it's just that there's nobody else to fight anymore. Blah blah blah. This is a fair fight, a perfect match, blah blah blah. Well, they can fool themselves and their fans. But not the bookmakers and bettors. Davis at 1.03 and Lamont at 9.1 speak volumes.
